Absolutely! We are proud to be verified providers through the Department of Human Services (DHS) in both Minnesota and Wisconsin. This means that our team is fully authorized to provide services and bill directly through a variety of funding sources.
In Minnesota, we are able to bill directly for both Traditional Waiver Programs and Consumer Directed Community Supports (CDCS), as well as through grant-funded support plans when applicable.
In Wisconsin, we are an approved provider for the Children’s Long-Term Support (CLTS) Waiver Program, allowing us to work directly with families and coordinate billing seamlessly.
Our verification as DHS providers ensures that families can access our services with confidence, knowing that we meet all state standards and requirements for quality care and support.

Our sensory spaces are thoughtfully designed by a team of occupational therapists. Each project is tailored to the individual’s unique sensory profile, functional goals, and support needs!
The design process typically involves:
Collaboration with the Individual’s Team: We work closely with families, case managers, and therapists (especially OTs, PTs, & SLPs) to understand the person’s sensory preferences, triggers, and therapeutic goals.
In-House Design Experts: Our lead designers have experience creating calming, functional, and developmentally appropriate spaces for individuals with autism, ADHD, sensory processing disorder, and other neurodiverse needs.
Evidence-Based Practices: Our designs are rooted in principles of sensory integration and therapeutic design, ensuring the spaces not only look inviting but also support regulation, engagement, and well-being.
We ensure every space reflects the individual’s needs, preferences, and long-term use, whether it's a single sensory corner or a fully renovated therapeutic room!

SENSE-ational Spaces, LLC is an approved vendor in both Minnesota and Wisconsin for waiver-funded services!
Here’s how we work within those states:
Minnesota: We collaborate with counties, managed care organizations, and support planners to provide waiver-aligned sensory room design, adaptive equipment, and home modifications. We understand MN’s waiver processes, including CADI and DD waivers, and provide all necessary documentation for approval.
Wisconsin: We are an approved vendor under various programs and work alongside IRIS consultants, CLTS waiver staff, and county agencies. Our services are frequently covered under home modifications, assistive technology, and sensory supports for children and adults with disabilities.
We’re familiar with each state’s requirements and can provide quotes, justifications, renderings, and equipment specs to help with waiver submissions and prior authorizations.
If you have questions about a different state’s waiver program or how we can work with your agency, we’re happy to coordinate directly with your team to ensure everything aligns with funding guidelines!

Our services are most commonly funded through Minnesota’s Developmental Disabilities (DD) and Community Access for Disability Inclusion (CADI) waivers, under both traditional services and Consumer Directed Community Supports (CDCS). The specific categories we align with include:
✨ Environmental Accessibility Adaptations (EAA) ✨
We provide sensory-friendly modifications to home environments that support safety, regulation, and independence. This can include:
Soft flooring and padded walls
Calming lighting and sound-reducing materials
Sensory room installations
Other physical changes to reduce overstimulation or enhance daily functioning
These adaptations help individuals better access and use their living space and are often approved under EAA when related to health, safety, or behavioral needs.
✨ Specialized Equipment and Supplies ✨
We supply and install sensory and therapeutic equipment, such as:
Bubble tubes, crash pads, sensory swings
Wall-mounted panels and activity stations
Visual and tactile calming tools
This equipment supports regulation, emotional well-being, and therapeutic goals and can often be covered under the DD or CADI waivers with appropriate justification.
✨ CDCS (Consumer Directed Community Supports) ✨
For individuals using CDCS under either the DD or CADI waiver, we offer more flexibility in how services are customized. Our work can be funded under Environmental Modifications, Specialized Supplies, or other CDCS categories as defined in the person’s budget and plan.
We provide:
Itemized quotes
Justification letters
Photos and supporting documentation
to help with approval and submission.
We work closely with case managers, support planners, and families to ensure everything we provide fits within waiver guidelines and supports the individual’s person-centered goals!
-
Absolutely! We work closely with families, case managers, and support planners to help determine which parts of a project are likely to qualify for waiver funding and which would require personal or out-of-pocket funding.
When we prepare a proposal, we clearly separate the costs into two categories:
Waiver-eligible items/services
These typically include sensory equipment, environmental modifications, or safety features that support the individual’s functional needs and align with their waiver plan.
Non-covered/personal funding items
These may include decorative elements, upgrades chosen for aesthetic reasons, or features that fall outside of medical or functional necessity.
This split makes it easier for teams to request authorization, stay within budget, and ensure compliance with waiver requirements - and we're happy to revise proposals as needed based on feedback from the waiver team!
-
Yes, absolutely! We can clearly split costs between two support plans in our proposals to help maximize funding and ensure the most important items are addressed first.
Our approach includes:
Prioritizing key equipment or modifications that have the greatest impact on the individual’s safety, independence, and well-being in the initial phase.
Allocating remaining or less urgent items to the second support plan or a future funding round.
Providing a detailed, easy-to-understand breakdown that shows which items fall under each plan, helping case managers and families coordinate approvals efficiently.
This method helps optimize the available budget while ensuring all essential needs are met in a timely way.
-
Yes, definitely! You don’t need to have a primary occupational therapist or therapist involved to work with us on designing or equipping a sensory space.
We provide personalized consultations and recommendations based on the individual’s needs and preferences. Our team has experience guiding families who are looking for expert ideas and practical solutions, whether or not they currently have therapeutic support.
We can help you choose equipment and design a space that supports sensory regulation, comfort, and engagement - all tailored specifically for your loved one.

Yes, we’ve successfully worked with many families living in rental properties, and we understand the unique challenges that come with making modifications in those settings.
Whenever needed, we provide modular, moveable, and non-permanent solutions that support the individual’s needs while also maintaining the rental unit’s integrity and complying with landlord requirements. This might include:
Freestanding sensory equipment
Portable calming or sound-reducing elements
Non-damaging wall-mounted features (with removable adhesives or minor hardware)
We can also assist in providing documentation or descriptions to help obtain landlord approval, and we’re happy to adjust plans to meet lease or property standards.
Our goal is to create a safe and supportive space, wherever that may be.
