Start the day with movement, connection, and purposeful sensory input!
These Morning Activity Cards are an OT-developed, play-based resource designed to help families build sensory-rich movement into their morning routine. Rather than simply checking activities off a list, this packet helps caregivers understand WHAT sensory input different activities provide, WHY the order of activities can matter, and HOW to choose activities based on their child’s needs that day.
Use the cards as a simple way to connect, move, play, and help your child’s body feel more organized and ready for the day ahead!
🧠 Sensory Input Overview
Learn the basics of sensory input and the concept of a "sensory diet," including how purposeful sensory experiences can be incorporated into a child's daily routine.
📋 Parent Guide + OT Strategies
A caregiver-friendly handout explains how to use the activities, what types of sensory input they provide, and the skills or body systems each activity may support.
☀️ Morning Activity Cards
Print, cut, and keep the activity cards together for easy access. Each morning, invite your child to choose one or more cards (or rotate through different activities throughout the week) to create a routine that feels fun and motivating rather than like another task to complete.
🧩 Memory Movement Game
Turn a classic memory game into a movement activity! When your child finds a matching pair, complete the movement shown on the cards. This adds an active, sensory-rich twist to a familiar game while supporting attention, memory, and motor skills.
🎲 DIY Movement Dice
Print the included dice sides and turn any cardboard cube-shaped box into a large movement die! Roll the dice and see which movement your child gets to complete.
You don't need to complete every activity every morning! The goal is to provide purposeful sensory input through playful movement and connection.
Try placing the activity cards somewhere your child can easily access them and let them help choose what their body needs that morning. You can pick one activity, choose a few to rotate through, or make the memory game or movement dice part of your routine.
Connection over perfection! 💛
